Theme: Machine Sovereignty and Digital Mortality
In an era where artificial intelligence, robotics, and data-driven governance redefine autonomy, sovereignty is no longer a purely human construct. Machines exhibit a newfound agency, transcending traditional automatism, while technological competition reshapes the political landscape.
At the same time, our quest for digital immortality―preserving consciousness through technology―highlights the fragility of our creations. Like the obsolescence of the floppy disk or magnetic tape, even digital artifacts are transient. What will remain of today’s cutting-edge technology in a century? What does it mean to live, die, and govern in a hybrid physical-digital world?
The IJCAI 2025 Art Gallery seeks groundbreaking artworks that explore this paradox. How do machines assert sovereignty while grappling with their inherent vulnerability? What futures might emerge as humans, machines, and the environment intersect? And how can art illuminate these questions in ways that science cannot?
We welcome submissions that critically engage these themes through AI, robotics, augmented reality, virtual reality, and beyond. All works must incorporate AI in their creation process—whether through AI generative tools, AI-assisted techniques, or by featuring AI or robotics as integral components of the artwork. To deepen the connection to the conference’s AI focus, we encourage participants to draw inspiration from prior IJCAI research and innovations. Let your creativity challenge perceptions of machines, humanity, and the fragile yet resilient essence of our digital existence.

Evaluation
Each submission to the IJCAI 2025 Art Gallery will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Relevance, Originality, Conceptual Clarity, and Creative Integration of AI: Is the artwork relevant to the Call for Submissions? Does it present a unique and innovative concept or approach? Is it grounded in a clear and well-defined conceptual framework? Does it effectively and creatively utilize AI generative tools or AI-assisted techniques? Alternatively, does it feature AI or robotics as integral components of the artwork?
- Technical and visual presentation: Is the artwork technically sound and visually engaging? Does the artwork create an engaging and immersive experience for the user? (if immersive technology is used as the presentation media)
- Technological objective, and inherent research and quality: Does the artwork effectively utilize technology to achieve its goals? Does the artwork demonstrate a high level of research and quality in its concept, design, and execution?
